Skating update

Sullivan passed level 2 figure skating and is moving on to level 3.  Seems like a good reason to celebrate.

Apparently, I can't decide which Hipstamatic setting is my favorite, so I just mix them all together.

Easter, part 2

The New Market Fords came up and joined us for church, then a day at Grandma and Pap's.

Sullivan was very pleased with her Easter dress, which she picked out this year.  Of course, it's yellow, since right now everything has to be yellow.

Sullivan singing in the church choir (sorry it's grainy - that's from my phone):

Kids on a mission!  It was a very intense egg hunt!

Easter, part 1

We had an absolutely beautiful day this year on Easter, so that means I ended up with a ton of pictures.

First, the egg hunt at church (which was actually the week before):
on your marks....

get set....

go!
I love that action shot of Sullivan - she's determined to get some candy!

Then there's the traditional egg decorating:

The Easter Bunny left footprints all through the house as he was hiding Sullivan's eggs and basket:

She found all the eggs...

and a camera!

Green Week

To celebrate Earth Day (or is it Earth Week now?) Sullivan's school had a Green Week with a special "green" activity each day.   Her school is a "green school", so they went all out.  Here you can see the hat she decorated to remind people to recycle. Among other activities, they had the kids out weeding around the trees that were planted a few years ago.

Sullivan's new dog

Even though I said I wouldn't even consider getting a new dog until summer, Sullivan saw a little rescue guy at a PetCo adoption event and fell in love.  So on April 7th, Finnegan became the newest member of our family.

We made it clear that Sullivan was going to be responsible for taking care of him. She very quickly learned that there are ups and downs to being a dog owner.

The downs:

Taking your dog out first thing in the morning when you're still half asleep and it's raining

Poo pick-up

Ewwwww!

The ups:

Someone to run with

Someone to read with

Someone to snuggle with

Maryland Science Center

The science fair was immediately followed by a field trip to the Maryland Science Center on May 6th.  I got to go along as a chaperone, so here's a summary of our day:

Ready for our trip to Baltimore

Watching a really impressive IMAX movie about dinosaurs

Lunch a the Inner Harbor

Examining some dinosaur foot prints

I can't remember what the educational value was here - some thing about pendulums or weights and balances - but they had a great time on this one

Blue ice pop for a snack - lovely!

See?  I'm an official chaperone

Archery

On 4/3/11, Sullivan finally got to try out the archery set she got for Christmas. I think she was surprised to find it wasn't quite as easy as it looked, but she kept at it.
