Sullivan's birthday

I've decided that I'm so far behind that I need to just skip summer and post the current stuff.  But I just could skip Sullivan's birthday.  Maybe in January or February, when I'm sunk in my winter blues, I'll go back to those summer pictures to cheer myself up.  So for now, here's a quick look at Sullivan's birthday.
It's hard to believe she's 9 years old.  Time is just flying by.  This year's birthday theme was Pokemon.

 We had dinner at Sullivan's favorite restaurant:  Sakura.  We couldn't get a hibachi table, but the staff was very nice and made her balloon animals (and crown),  sang to her and let her bang the gong.

Isn't that a lovely cake?  Sullivan picked out the decorations for it.  It took a long time to get those candles lit.  I left my lighter outside by the grill and it was raining so that wasn't working and I couldn't find any old fashioned matches.  Pap ended up using the cigarette lighter in his car to light a piece of paper on fire.  Then he used that to light a candle to bring the flame in. Laney and Sullivan waited patiently through all this.

Trip to NJ

On July 12th, Sullivan and I made a trip to NJ to visit with our good friends, the Whites.  Tim was in NY for work, so we stayed with our friends all week and then he met up with us there on Friday. The kids entertained each other, the wine was flowing freely, the food was great and we even got in some sightseeing and swimming. It was one of the best vacations I've had in a while!

We took a little trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

There was a great Barbie display at Ellis Island that Sullivan really enjoyed.

We had a great time at the pool

And of course we had a great time just hanging out and chillin'.

4th of July

Ok, I've been away from the project for much too long, but now it's back to work! Lot's of catching up to do, so let's go back in time to our hot, hot summer.

On the 4th of July we followed our annual tradition and went down to the park to watch firework with our friends the Koons'.  The girls were having fun with glow sticks and were very happy to jump and swirl while I played the camera.  Here are the result:
